Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Since the start of the fall semester, we have appreciated your continuing commitment to Shield Our Spartans. Today, we write to communicate new University COVID-19 guidance to help keep our community safe. 

We have continued to follow the changing CDC and local public health officials’ guidance and determined that an effective practice to safeguard our community is to require face coverings outdoors when you cannot maintain 6 feet of distance from others, regardless of vaccination status. This guidance change is effective today, September 1st, and applies to all outdoor activities and interactions, both formal and informal, including University events. The indoor face covering requirement, available in the COVID-19 FAQs, remains in effect.

When choosing a face covering, please follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s face covering guidance. 

Getting vaccinated is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and others from the COVID-19 virus. Please visit the COVID-19 FAQ website if you have questions about the vaccine.
