Getting the safe, effective, and tested COVID-19 vaccine is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself, keep your family and others who are important to you safe, and move our campus and community toward a greater sense of normalcy. In addition to protecting yourself and your loved ones, as more people get vaccinated there is less opportunity for new variants of the virus to develop, and more hope that we can end the pandemic. 

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Governor has announced changes to the vaccine eligibility timeline:  

• Beginning Wednesday, March 31, individuals living in congregate living settings, including residence halls and houses/apartments with roommates, will be eligible to be vaccinated.
• Beginning Wednesday, April 7, all those wishing to get vaccinated will be eligible.
• UPDATE MARCH 31: Guilford county announced today that effective April 1 they will open all groups to vaccine eligibility. This opens eligibility to everyone over the age of 16.

Because of the expanded eligibility for our students and employees, at this time we are unable to take appointments for family members. Should we have remaining availability of appointments as we approach the clinic dates, we will let you know if we can accommodate family members.

UNCG Vaccine Clinic Details: Weeks of March 29 and April 5

There are now three vaccines that have been approved for use to protect against COVID-19 in the United States: the Pfizer vaccine (2 doses given 21 days apart), the Moderna vaccine (2 doses given 28 days apart), and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (1 dose). 

We will administer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in our clinics during the weeks of March 29 and April 5. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is approved for individuals 18 and older.

Due to the holiday, the UNCG Clinic will operate on the following schedule:

• Thursday, April 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Monday, April 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 6, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Individuals Eligible to be Vaccinated

Members of the following groups in the North Carolina priority framework are eligible to be vaccinated at the April 1, 5, and 6 clinics. 

Group 1: Health Care Workers and Long-term Care Staff and Residents
Group 2: Older Adults (65 and older)
Group 3: Frontline Essential Workers (including higher education employees)
Group 4: Higher Risk Medical Conditions, Congregate Living Settings, Other Essential Workers.

This includes students living in residence halls or other apartments/houses with roommates. 

Location

• The Clinic will be held in the Cone Ballroom in Elliott University Center.
• Parking will be available in the Walker Parking Deck (506 Stirling St., Greensboro).
• Signage will direct you to the Clinic. 

How to Make an Appointment

• An appointment is required. You can make an appointment here.
• This link is for employees and students of Guilford County colleges and universities only. It will not be accessible on the NC DHHS Find My Spot website. Please be respectful of this opportunity and do not share this link with others.  
• New appointments will be released on a weekly basis as available.

What to Expect

• Check in at your scheduled appointment time. Please do not arrive early as we’ve designed the process to avoid long lines and crowds.  
• There is no cost to you. 
• You will be asked to complete some paperwork and provide your basic information so that the state of North Carolina can track vaccine distribution.
• After you receive your vaccination, you will need to remain in the vaccination area to be observed for either 15 or 30 minutes, depending on your previous medical history. Adverse reactions are rare, but this requirement is in place out of an abundance of caution. Please plan accordingly time-wise. 
• You will receive documentation of the vaccine and lot number that you receive. Please keep this in a safe place. 
• UNCG employees do not need to use leave time to get vaccinated if your appointment is during normal work hours, but you should communicate with your supervisor about the timing of your appointment. 

Please remember there are multiple sites in the community that are offering vaccination. We recommend that you take the first appointment you can locate that meets your specific scheduling needs.
