As we begin our first week of classes, we wanted to share important information about staying safe and healthy on campus this semester.
As a reminder, UNCG will now require all students who are attending at least one class in-person to either submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or participate in periodic COVID-19 testing. This applies to students living off-campus as well as those living in residence halls. A list of FAQs and answers is now available on UNCG’s COVID-19 website.
If you have been vaccinated and have not yet submitted proof of vaccination, please do so through the Student Health Services Patient Portal website. Testing will begin this week. Students who need to get tested will receive instructions by email.
Getting vaccinated is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and others from the COVID-19 virus. Please visit the COVID-19 vaccine FAQ website if you have questions about the vaccine. To make an appointment to get your free vaccination, contact Student Health Services.
All students who submit proof of their completed COVID-19 vaccination will receive $50 in Flex on their Spartan Card. For more information about this incentive, visit our Got the Shot website.
Face coverings, per UNCG policy and per the recently issued policy by Guilford County, must be worn in all indoor facilities unless you are 1) eating or drinking, or 2) in your room or place of residence. This applies to UNCG’s campus and to all other businesses or public settings in Guilford County until further notice. They are not required outdoors, but are strongly encouraged when in large groups and when social distancing cannot be maintained. Please use caution when making plans to gather with others.
Self-Reporting and Contact Tracing
If you develop COVID-19 symptoms or are told you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, complete the self-report form. You will receive information by email and will be contacted by a member of the UNCG case management team. Do not go to class or participate in other group activities until you have been told you can. If you test positive for COVID-19, we will ask you to help us identify others in close contact with you. Honesty is critically important so that we can prevent others from becoming infected.
Isolation and Quarantine
We follow the CDC guidelines on isolation and quarantine. More information can be found here. The UNCG COVID-19 case management team, the Dean of Students Office, the Students First Office, and Student Health Services work together to support students in isolation and quarantine. Students who live in the residence halls have the option of completing their isolation or quarantine periods in set-aside rooms on campus.
Again, we look forward to a safe and successful fall semester, and thank you in advance for continuing to Shield Our Spartans.
