Shield Our Spartans

Spring 2023

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The UNC System Office has provided new guidance to campuses to help keep our communities as safe as possible. Many campuses, including ours, require at least some groups of students (for instance, residential students) to either submit documentation of their vaccination status or participate in mandatory COVID-19 testing. As such, the System Office has urged campuses to pursue the same approach for employees. We have begun the process of determining how we would implement a vaccination verification and testing process for employees on our campus, with the goal of having something in place by mid-fall. We will be working with the faculty and staff senates to seek input and will keep campus updated as we develop our process.

Vaccination remains the best tool we have to keep our campus safe. We strongly encourage all members of our community – employees and students – to get vaccinated to protect themselves and our community.  As a reminder, paid leave time is available to employees  both to receive the vaccine and for the day following, should it be needed.

A few additional reminders:

  • Do NOT report to work if you are feeling ill. Complete the Self-Reporting Form, stay home, and contact your healthcare provider to determine if you need to get tested.
  • Face coverings are required when indoors, unless you are eating or drinking or you are in a private work space where you can maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others.
  • Face coverings are readily available on campus.

Please continue to pay close attention to University communications as we work to respond to current conditions related to the pandemic and keep our campus community safe. The UNCG COVID-19 website remains a good source of information.
